Will EMEA Drive Consumer Tech Growth in 2026?

At the CES 2026 event in Las Vegas, the Consumer Technology Association highlighted that global consumer technology sales are projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2025. While overall growth in consumer spending may remain stagnant in 2026, the EMEA region is expected to lead the way with modest growth, contrasting with flat trends in North America and a decline in China. This forecast emphasizes the industry’s resilience amidst economic shifts, supply chain challenges, and consumer spending pressures.

A notable area of growth is small domestic appliances (SDAs), with consumers willing to invest in products that offer convenience, performance, and versatility, even at higher prices. However, China’s trade-in policies from 2025 present challenges for SDA growth comparisons in 2026.

Ines Haaga from NIQ noted that 2026 will see contrasting growth stories globally, with Europe and MEA advancing as consumers opt for premium, connected living while valuing cost-effectiveness. In contrast, China’s market is cooling after a surge driven by trade-in policies. Brands that quickly adapt to regional demands with competitive pricing and innovation are likely to succeed.

Despite economic pressures, Americans are expected to continue investing in technology that enhances productivity and quality of life. The growth of connected intelligent devices is set to play a significant role, particularly in the edge AI sector, potentially boosting industry volume and revenue.

The CTA presentation identified three major trends shaping the future of consumer technology: intelligent transformation through AI integration, advancements in longevity technologies for healthier living, and engineering innovations in electrification and infrastructure. These themes were further explored at CES Unveiled 2026 in Las Vegas.
