Apple is reportedly developing a new split-screen feature for iOS 27, designed to enhance app functionality on large screens and in landscape mode. This feature, known as “Parallel View,” aims to address iOS’s historical challenges with wide displays, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming foldable iPhone. The foldable device’s 7.8-inch display demands a system-level solution to prevent apps from appearing letterboxed. While iPadOS already offers landscape adaptation, iOS has lacked a similar mechanism. The new feature is expected to allow two apps to run side-by-side, reminiscent of the iPad layout, and could be unveiled at WWDC 2026, alongside the release of the iPhone 18 Pro models and the foldable iPhone.
