Will Maroc Telecom and Inwi Revolutionize Fiber and 5G with $485 Million?

After years of rivalry, Maroc Telecom and Inwi have decided to join forces to enhance Morocco’s digital infrastructure. The two operators have announced a joint investment of 4.4 billion dirhams to accelerate the deployment of fiber optics and 5G networks. This project, spanning three years, aims to significantly strengthen the country’s telecom infrastructure.

To execute this initiative, two joint ventures, Uni Fiber and Uni Tower, have been established. Uni Fiber will focus on expanding the FTTH network, with the goal of connecting one million households within two years and three million within five years. Meanwhile, Uni Tower plans to initially install 2,000 telecom towers, with a long-term expansion target of 6,000 structures.

This strategic collaboration has been approved by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency, marking a pivotal shift in the partnership between these two telecom giants. This ambitious alliance is expected not only to optimize investments but also to accelerate Morocco’s digital transformation, aligning with the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy.

The rollout of 5G is scheduled for November 2025, ahead of major events such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup. By enhancing broadband coverage, including in remote areas, this agreement is set to promote digital inclusion and support new applications in key sectors such as education, healthcare, and public services.
