Will over 800 companies showcase AI products at China’s World AI Conference?

This weekend, Shanghai will host the World AI Conference, featuring more than 800 companies and showcasing over 3,000 products, including 40 large language models, 50 AI-powered devices, and 60 intelligent robots. Prominent Chinese firms like Huawei and Alibaba will participate alongside international giants such as Tesla, Alphabet, and Amazon. Chinese Premier Li Qiang will deliver the opening speech, emphasizing the government’s commitment to AI as a key component of its national development strategy. China aims to establish itself as a global leader in AI by 2030, striving to reduce dependency on foreign technology amidst ongoing competition with the United States. Despite export restrictions from the U.S. on AI chips and related tools, Chinese companies are making significant strides in AI. Notably, the startup DeepSeek has gained attention for developing a cost-effective model rivaling those of U.S. firms like OpenAI. Nvidia’s CEO recently praised AI models from DeepSeek, Alibaba, and Tencent as “world class.” The conference will also feature innovative startups like Unitree, known for its humanoid robots.
