Will Production Challenges Limit iPhone Fold Supply Next Year?

Apple’s eagerly awaited foldable iPhone might experience supply shortages until 2027, even though it is slated for launch next year. The development of the device is reportedly behind schedule, with production hurdles potentially delaying smooth shipments until 2027. Despite plans to announce the foldable iPhone in the second half of 2026, manufacturing issues could limit its availability through the end of 2026. The phone is expected to feature a book-style design with a 5.3- to 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner screen, utilizing liquid metal hinges for a nearly crease-free display. Priced between $2,000 and $2,500, it will be Apple’s most expensive iPhone to date. Foxconn was anticipated to start limited production this year, but the lack of updates suggests the device may still be in the design validation phase, where consistency issues are common. Concerns about the launch timeline echo previous warnings that delays in finalizing design elements, such as the hinge mechanism, could push the release to 2027.
