In recent years, Samsung’s semiconductor division faced challenges in attracting clients due to its inability to produce chips on par with TSMC. However, the South Korean tech giant has turned the tide with its advanced second-generation 2nm fabrication process, known as SF2P. As the first company ready to manufacture 2nm chips, Samsung has already secured Tesla as a client, with AMD and Google likely to follow suit. Now, Qualcomm appears to be considering Samsung Foundry for its next-generation chip production. At CES 2026, Qualcomm’s CEO Cristiano Amon revealed ongoing discussions with Samsung for contract manufacturing using the latest 2nm process, with design work already completed and commercialization on the horizon. While the specific chip model remains undisclosed, it is expected to be a high-end variant, potentially the Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen 5.
