The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency has mandated that telecom operators share their fiber optic infrastructures. This decision, made on March 4th, aims to accelerate fiber deployment and promote more balanced competition. The operators affected include Maroc Telecom, Orange, and Inwi. They are required to collaborate to share both their existing and future infrastructures. Two categories of actors have been defined: infrastructure operators, who own the network and must lease it to others, and commercial operators, who utilize this network to offer their services. The goal is to ensure non-discriminatory access and to make pricing public, including for after-sales services. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to develop fiber optics in Morocco, prepare for the arrival of 5G, and achieve the objectives of the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy. The aim is to increase the number of households eligible for fiber optic services from 1.5 million in 2022 to 5.6 million by 2030.
