Samsung’s Galaxy S20 FE is about to be removed from the list of devices receiving security updates. Although new Android phones now typically enjoy around seven years of support, this standard was established after the release of the Galaxy S20 FE. The device recently received its final update with the October 2025 security patch. While it is currently up-to-date, future security patches from Samsung will not include the S20 FE, leaving it vulnerable to new security threats. The Galaxy S20 FE is still listed among quarterly update devices but will soon be dropped. Meanwhile, the newly launched Galaxy S25 FE is at the beginning of a seven-year update plan, with support expected to last until 2032. In contrast, the S21 FE is nearing the end of its four-year support period, having just received its last major Android update. The Fan Edition remains a staple in Samsung’s S series, offering a budget-friendly option with some flagship features. Those wishing to upgrade from the Galaxy S20 FE can trade it in for a $200 discount on the Galaxy S25 FE, which also comes with a free storage upgrade.
