The anticipation for the Galaxy S26 series is growing as Samsung prepares to launch its new flagship phones in early 2026. A key question on many minds is the choice of chipset for these devices. Historically, Samsung has alternated between Qualcomm’s Snapdragon and its own Exynos chips, depending on the market. However, it seems that the Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. This chipset, identified by the model number “PMK8850” in firmware files, is expected to boast a new Oryon CPU architecture, with clock speeds reaching up to 4.74GHz in a special “for Galaxy” version. Performance improvements could include up to 25% faster speeds and enhanced graphics capabilities. The official unveiling of this chip is anticipated in September. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 Ultra itself may offer a 6.9-inch OLED display, a 200MP main camera, and a 50MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom, alongside memory options of 12 or 16 GB RAM and a 5,000mAh battery.
