Samsung is set to unveil three new foldable smartphones next month: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will globally feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will have different chipsets depending on the region. In Europe and South Korea, it will be powered by the Exynos 2600 processor, while other regions, including North America, South America, Asia (excluding South Korea), and Australia, will receive the Snapdragon version.
This decision is believed to be a strategy to boost profitability amidst increasing costs for smartphone components, particularly memory chips. Samsung’s foundry and chip design divisions, which faced losses last year, are expected to return to profitability.
The Exynos 2600, manufactured with Samsung Foundry’s 2nm process, introduces a Heat Path Block technology to maintain cooler temperatures and boasts strong GPU performance. Previously used in the Galaxy S26 series, it offers efficiency and performance comparable to MediaTek and Snapdragon alternatives.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is anticipated to come with a foldable OLED display with a less noticeable crease, improved performance, and better battery life. However, its camera setup will likely remain unchanged from the Galaxy Z Flip 7, featuring the same screen size, battery capacity, and charging speeds.
