This confirmation comes through newly published certification documents, which shed light on the foldable phone’s chipset, ending speculation about its processor choice. A Samsung device, identified by model number SM-F971U, has successfully passed the FCC certification, indicating it as the carrier-locked US model of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Notably, this model is anticipated to have a wider cover screen compared to its predecessors. Described as a foldable mobile phone, it boasts both a large main display and a smaller secondary display. The device is equipped with a Qualcomm modem supporting various connectivity options, including 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G, and features Qualcomm’s Smart Transmit technology. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. Additionally, the phone supports NB-NTN technology for direct satellite connectivity, enhancing emergency messaging and calling capabilities.
