Samsung has unveiled its latest Galaxy Book 6 Ultra at CES 2026, marking a return after skipping a generation. The laptop will be available in select markets by the end of January. While there are several appealing features, such as the new touchpad, Samsung’s shift in branding strategy has raised questions.
The most notable change is the redefinition of the Ultra brand. Previously, the Ultra line was synonymous with high-performance dedicated NVIDIA GPUs, specifically the RTX 4050 or RTX 4070 models. The new Galaxy Book 6 Ultra offers options for the latest RTX 5060 and 5070 GPUs but introduces an Intel Arc integrated GPU option as well. This diversification, while providing more choices, might dilute the Ultra brand’s reputation for top-tier performance.
Another significant change involves the laptop’s power supply. Historically, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra faced issues with power consumption, leading to battery drain even when connected to the charger. Samsung addressed this with a 140W charger for the Book 4 Ultra. However, the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra now comes with either a 100W or a 140W charger, depending on the GPU. Models with Intel graphics receive the 100W charger, while those with NVIDIA RTX GPUs get the 140W charger. It’s unclear if the Intel models can handle more than 100W even with a higher-capacity charger, raising questions about the new Ultra’s power capabilities.
