Could future Samsung foldables be lighter with bigger batteries?

As anticipation builds for the Galaxy S26 series, intriguing details have emerged about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung is reportedly focusing on reducing the weight of these future foldable phones, rather than making them slimmer, and may also enhance at least one model with a larger battery. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is rumored to weigh just 150g, significantly lighter than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Similarly, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 might see a weight reduction, potentially coming in at 200g. However, these weight reductions should be viewed with skepticism, especially the 38g decrease for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which appears ambitious. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery, an increase from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, yet it would still lag behind competitors like the OPPO Find N6, which is speculated to boast a 6,000mAh battery.
