Recent developments suggest that Samsung might have halted its Exynos chip operations for the automotive sector. Although the company introduced the Exynos Auto brand for automotive chips, a recent update indicates a suspension in the development of the next-generation chip. There are speculations about the potential closure of the Exynos Auto business. Despite these claims, a Samsung representative clarified that the automotive chip division remains separate from the mobile division and continues to operate. It is noted that employees formerly working on Exynos Auto projects have been reassigned within the company, with some joining the semiconductor division’s new software innovation team and others moving to mobile chipset projects. Since its inception in 2018, Exynos Auto has partnered with prominent car manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Ferrari, and Tesla. The Exynos Auto V720, currently a primary product, is anticipated to be integrated into BMW’s upcoming iX3 electric vehicle.
