Are Chinese Display Makers Targeting the Galaxy S27?

Samsung, in an effort to cut production costs, has begun incorporating more Chinese displays in its Galaxy phones. The Galaxy S26 FE is rumored to feature OLED panels from CSOT, which are more affordable than those from Samsung Display. Now, Chinese display manufacturers like BOE and CSOT are setting their sights on supplying OLED panels for Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S27 series.

Traditionally, Samsung Display has been the main supplier of OLED screens for Galaxy smartphones, particularly for flagship models. However, due to financial pressures, even the main Galaxy S flagships might soon include Chinese OLEDs. Chinese firms are aggressively pursuing supply deals for these models, although the premium Ultra version may remain out of reach.

BOE, which has lost significant OLED orders for Apple’s iPhones to Samsung Display and LG, is keen to enter Samsung’s Galaxy S lineup. BOE offers high-quality OLED panels at competitive prices, a factor that might entice Samsung. Nonetheless, Samsung Display is likely to fiercely defend its position, as losing Galaxy S orders could weaken its market leverage and open up possibilities for broader supplier diversification in future flagship models. The coming months will be crucial in determining the outcome of this potential shift in display suppliers.
