Did a Galaxy Watch 4 model get two updates in one day?

The Galaxy Watch 4 series, launched over four years ago, recently surprised users with an unexpected update to One UI 8 Watch. While many doubted its arrival, Samsung confirmed the update, initially releasing it for the Bluetooth-only variants of the Galaxy Watch 4 40mm and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic’s 42mm and 46mm models. However, the 44mm version and LTE variants in certain Asian regions were initially left out.

In India, the 44mm Bluetooth-only Galaxy Watch 4 received two successive updates yesterday. The first update, identified by firmware version IYI4, introduced the August 2025 security patch and was approximately 142MB in size. The second, with firmware version JYK4, delivered the Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch update, significantly larger at 1.7GB.

Owners of the Bluetooth-only Galaxy Watch 4 in India can check for these updates by navigating to Settings > Software update and selecting Download and install. After downloading, the installation can be initiated by tapping Install now.

However, the rollout of the One UI 8 Watch update has not been without issues. Users of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have reported sluggish performance and malfunctioning sensors post-update. Additionally, some users of both the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have experienced increased battery drain.
