In Chandigarh, a significant step was taken to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into Punjab’s educational framework during a two-day national conference on AI, hosted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) at the CII Northern Region Headquarters. The event concluded with interactive workshops by tech giants Google and Intel.
The conference gathered policymakers, educators, and technology experts to collaboratively design a responsible AI roadmap for classrooms, with the aim of improving learning quality, broadening educational access, and equipping students to become creators of technology rather than mere consumers.
Dr. Amarpal Singh, Chairman of PSEB, highlighted the ethical use of AI, emphasizing its potential to boost creativity and problem-solving among learners. He urged students to make ethical choices regarding AI tools, akin to selecting good friends, and to use AI within a legal and ethical framework to enhance learning without compromising core values.
Google led sessions that highlighted AI’s transformative impact on education, focusing on raising awareness and readiness among key stakeholders, including teachers and administrators, for adopting AI-driven methods.
A standout feature was Intel’s hands-on workshop, “AI in the Workplace,” which attracted over 112 participants. This session provided practical training on implementing AI tools within government frameworks, stressing data privacy, responsible use, and safeguarding sensitive information.
Another workshop, “AI in Schools for School Leaders,” conducted by IKG PTU, was designed for principals and school heads, focusing on integrating AI into leadership and academic management while maintaining academic integrity in an AI-enhanced environment.
Neeev AI conducted a student-focused workshop, “AI in Education,” providing practical skills in AI applications and encouraging students to responsibly experiment with new tools. Students were also educated on the development of AI tools and the diverse skills needed to create such technologies, inspiring many to explore future careers in AI and emerging fields.
The enthusiastic participation of Punjab’s students, marked by curiosity and adaptability, underscored the vast potential for AI-driven learning in the future.
