Why Was Apple Surprised by the MacBook Neo’s Demand?

Apple’s latest release, the MacBook Neo, has quickly become a customer favorite, as highlighted by CEO Tim Cook’s recent remarks. During an earnings call, Cook expressed his delight at the overwhelming response to the laptop, which launched in March. Despite Apple’s initial optimism, the demand for the MacBook Neo has surpassed expectations, significantly contributing to a surge in first-time Mac buyers last quarter. Cook emphasized the company’s focus on attracting new customers and those who have held onto their Macs for extended periods. The high demand has led to supply constraints, with current delivery estimates in the U.S. ranging from two to three weeks. Released on March 11, the MacBook Neo starts at $599 for the general public, with a discounted price of $499 for students and educational staff. The laptop, powered by an A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 Pro, is available in four colors: Citrus, Blush, Indigo, and Silver.
