Was personal information exposed in Gardendale’s cyber breach?

A cyber security breach in Gardendale’s municipal computer system may have compromised personal data, including social security and driver’s license numbers, affecting both residents and non-residents. Mayor Stan Hogeland confirmed the breach was identified in June 2025, and emphasized the importance of taking the notification letters seriously. The city has engaged experts to manage the breach, focusing on isolating and controlling the issue to prevent further spread. Recipients of the notification are advised to monitor their accounts for unusual activity and consider using the complimentary credit monitoring service offered for one year. Gardendale has since enhanced its system security to avert future breaches.
