How is AEON revolutionizing AI agent payment systems with $8 million in funding?

AEON has successfully raised $8 million in a pre-seed funding round to develop a specialized settlement layer for AI agents, with YZi Labs, affiliated with Binance, leading the investment. Other contributors to the round include IDG Capital, HashKey Capital, Stanford Blockchain Builders Fund, and Oak Grove Ventures. The funds are earmarked for creating a financial infrastructure to support interactions among AI agents, heralding a new economic paradigm. In May, AEON introduced its first AI payment product, enabling AI agents to connect with over 50 million offline merchants globally. The company has also collaborated with BNB Chain to launch the x402 Facilitator, enhancing service providers’ capabilities with verifiable transactions, on-chain settlement, and tamper-proof receipts. Eddy Lyu, AEON’s CEO and co-founder, emphasized the shift towards an economy driven by autonomous agents and AI, highlighting the need for a dedicated settlement layer to support this transformation. AEON plans to leverage the funding to accelerate the development of this layer and strengthen partnerships within the ecosystem, including collaborations with Coinbase and BNB Chain.
