Samsung is set to revolutionize its foldable lineup with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, bringing significant enhancements over its predecessor. Impressively, these improvements come without an increase in weight, maintaining a light 215g, while the unfolded thickness is slightly reduced to 4.1mm.
For the first time in the Fold Ultra series, the device will support approximately 20W Qi2.2 wireless charging, compatible with MagSafe accessories. The design, display sizes, and form factor remain consistent with the Z Fold 7, with the addition of a new chip.
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the wider Z Fold 8 are anticipated to make their debut at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026, alongside other new releases like the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Watch 9 series. The Z Fold 8 Ultra’s advancements in battery and charging technology mark a significant leap for the series, without compromising on weight or thickness.
The engineering feat of increasing the battery capacity by 600mAh, while reducing thickness and maintaining weight, highlights Samsung’s progress in battery technology, potentially utilizing silicon-carbon chemistry.
