Is macOS 27 Introducing iPhone’s Pull-to-Refresh Gesture?

macOS 27 Golden Gate introduces a new feature called “Swipe down to refresh,” allowing Mac users to swipe down within applications to update content, similar to the familiar gesture on iPhones and iPads. This new functionality is initially supported in apps like Safari, Mail, News, Podcasts, and Calendar. The addition of this gesture indicates Apple’s ongoing efforts to unify interaction patterns across its platforms. Additionally, Apple is reportedly working on a “MacBook Ultra,” a high-end laptop expected to feature a touchscreen OLED display, an M6-series chip, and a sleeker design. This device is anticipated to launch in early 2027, with delays due to the global memory chip shortage. The touch-friendly updates to macOS appear to be aligned with this upcoming product.
