Did Apple alter audio frequencies in their keynote to stop Siri from activating?

Apple has reportedly adjusted the audio of its WWDC 2026 keynote video to prevent accidental activation of Siri on viewers’ devices. The modification involves removing specific frequency bands—3kHz, 4kHz, 5kHz, and 6kHz—whenever the word “Siri” is mentioned. This technique aims to disrupt the wake-word detection that smart devices rely on, which identifies the acoustic signature of phrases like “Siri” and “Hey Siri.” Despite these efforts, some viewers noted that their devices still activated during the presentation. A similar strategy was previously used by Amazon in 2017 to prevent Alexa from being triggered by TV commercials.
