Meta has introduced its first smart glasses under its own brand, priced at $299, aiming to strengthen its position in the market before Apple’s anticipated entry. The new models, Adventurer, Fury, and Starfire, are designed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban and Oakley, which manufactures the glasses. The Adventurer and Fury models feature a Wayfarer-like design, while the Starfire, created with Kylie Jenner, offers a unique oval shape with luxury details. All models include adjustable features for comfort and come in a variety of colors and lens options. They maintain the same technical specifications as previous Ray-Ban models, with a 12-megapixel camera, 3K video capture, and extended battery life. Meta’s Muse Spark AI enhances response quality and expands live translation capabilities to 20 languages. Meta is also exploring a camera-free version of the glasses, focusing on audio features. The company acknowledges Apple’s expertise in hardware and design, anticipating competition when Apple releases its smart glasses, expected in 2027. The new Meta glasses are available through Meta and EssilorLuxottica’s retail partners.
