Is Samsung’s first PCIe 6.0 SSD setting new speed records?

Samsung has begun mass production of its inaugural PCIe 6.0 SSD, the PM1763, which boasts remarkable data transfer speeds. Tailored for AI servers and enterprise applications, this SSD can load extensive AI models in mere seconds. Offering sequential read speeds up to 28,400MB/s and write speeds up to 21,900MB/s, it doubles the speed of its predecessor, the PM1753. The PM1763 can load a 40GB large language model in just 1.4 seconds, significantly reducing latency between processors and AI accelerators. Designed for liquid-cooled environments like AI data centers, it includes direct-to-chip cooling to ensure peak performance during heavy workloads and offers up to 1.8 times better power efficiency than its predecessor. For enhanced security, it supports post-quantum cryptography algorithms and the TEE Device Interface Security Protocol, safeguarding sensitive data against future threats.
