Is Samsung Voice Recorder getting cloud transcription and a redesigned interface?

Introduction
Samsung is preparing a major update to its Voice Recorder app to coincide with the rollout of One UI 9. The update promises cloud-based transcription, new conversion options, improved storage management and several UI refinements to streamline everyday use.

H2 – Cloud transcription for more accurate text
A new Cloud Transcription feature will let users send recordings to Samsung’s servers for AI-powered transcription. Unlike the current system—where only summaries could be processed in the cloud and transcriptions remained strictly on-device—users will be able to opt into cloud processing to boost transcription accuracy.

H2 – Choice between on-device and cloud processing
The update keeps on-device processing and adds a cloud option, so users can choose local transcription for greater privacy or cloud processing for higher quality. This setting gives more flexibility depending on privacy preferences and storage constraints.

H2 – Recording conversion: more formats supported
The app will add a conversion feature that likely enables exporting audio files to other formats (MP3, WAV, etc.). Recordings are currently saved in M4A by default; conversion will make sharing easier and improve compatibility with other devices and services.

H2 – Redesigned storage management
A new Manage Storage menu will help free up space by automatically grouping files into categories—large recordings, short clips, old files and unwanted calls. This simplified sorting will make cleaning up your library faster and more intuitive.

H2 – Improved playback UI and experience
Visual tweaks include an animated waveform that appears during playback directly in the recordings list, replacing a simple progress bar. In addition, explanatory text for options has been moved out of toggle switches, clarifying the settings page and lightening the interface.

Conclusion
The Voice Recorder update arriving with One UI 9 aims to make the app more powerful and practical: more reliable transcriptions via the cloud, broader audio format support, better cleanup tools and a cleaner UI. Together, these changes should simplify recording, managing and sharing audio for everyday users.
