Galaxy Z Fold 8: Samsung Adds 1 Million Units After Record Pre-Orders

Samsung recently revealed that its new foldable phones have broken all pre-order records, even surpassing the Galaxy Note 10 series, and has increased production of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 by 1 million units due to high demand.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 demand and production

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 accounted for roughly 59% of all pre-orders globally across Samsung’s latest foldable lineup, and its pre-orders were 30% higher than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 worldwide. Those figures prompted Samsung to boost production of the Fold 8 by an additional 1 million units to meet demand.

Redesigned form factor and displays

The Fold 8 introduces a redesigned form factor with a shorter, wider display. When closed, the cover screen uses a 10:16 aspect ratio, which is described as well suited to vertical video formats on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Unfolded, the main screen opens to a 4:3 aspect ratio that works for standard video content and is also suitable for reading e-books, playing games and running two apps side by side.
