Samsung has launched The Freestyle+ in the United States, a portable DLP projector priced at $1,199.99 and available through Samsung’s official U.S. website and select retail partners. First revealed nearly seven months ago, the device emphasizes compactness and a suite of automatic features designed to simplify viewing on a variety of surfaces.
A scheduled U.S. launch
The U.S. rollout follows the global announcement made about seven months earlier. The Freestyle+ debuts at a manufacturer-stated price of $1,199.99 and can be purchased from Samsung’s U.S. website and participating retailers.
Image and performance
The Freestyle+ is a DLP projector capable of projecting up to a 100-inch image in Full HD (1920 x 1080). Samsung specifies a peak brightness of 430 ANSI lumens and a dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000:1. The unit supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, and it automatically adjusts brightness and contrast according to the environment.
Automatic correction and surface adaptation
On the image-processing side, the projector includes 3D Auto Keystone to automatically correct image geometry to match the projection surface — including fabrics such as curtains — and it can adjust projected colors. An Obstacle Avoidance feature will resize the image if it overlaps nearby objects (picture frames, etc.). Autofocus is automatic and re-calibrates when the device is moved.
Audio and sound integration
For audio, The Freestyle+ houses a 360-degree 5 W speaker. It supports Adaptive Sound and is compatible with Dolby Atmos. Using Q-Symphony technology, it can wirelessly pair with a Samsung soundbar or compatible Wi‑Fi speaker for a more powerful soundstage.
Connectivity and software ecosystem
The projector offers Wi‑Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and an HDMI 2.0 port with eARC. It runs Tizen OS with One UI and includes services and apps such as Gaming Hub, Samsung Health, SmartThings and Samsung TV Plus. The Freestyle+ also supports Alexa and Bixby voice assistants, features far-field microphones for voice control, and is compatible with AirPlay 2 and Smart View for casting from phones or computers.
Positioning
The Freestyle+ positions itself as a portable, user-friendly solution with strong software integration — aimed at users who want a compact projector that can automatically adapt to different projection conditions.
