The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung’s first foldable to officially carry the “Ultra” badge. Both the external and internal displays on the Fold 8 Ultra peak at 3,000 nits, a figure that even surpasses the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The inner panel also gets an anti-reflective treatment Samsung says can cut reflections by up to 50%, along with noticeably reduced hinge visibility. Those changes improve outdoor legibility and give the device a more premium visual presence.
Camera block upgraded
The camera module borrows several elements from the S26 Ultra: a 200 MP main sensor that can now shoot full-resolution 200 MP images with HDR processing for improved color and dynamic range. The ultra-wide is bumped to 50 MP with autofocus, sharpened optics and a new macro function. Samsung also announces 8K/30fps recording from the ultra-wide. These updates clearly move the Fold 8 Ultra closer to the photo standards of Samsung’s Ultra lineup.
Performance: the same SoC as the Ultra models
Unlike some foldables that ship with trimmed-down chips, the Fold 8 Ultra uses the full Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — specifically the “for Galaxy” variant tuned with higher CPU and GPU frequencies than the standard silicon. Configurations go up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, supporting its high-end positioning.
Battery and charging: numbers on the rise
Battery capacity increases to 5,000 mAh, matching the Galaxy S26 Ultra and representing roughly a 13.6% jump compared with the previous six Galaxy Z Fold generations. Wired charging tops out at 45 W — a level previously reserved for Ultra models like the S25 Ultra — with 20 W wireless charging. Those choices aim to minimize the usual trade-offs between foldable design and endurance.
