Scape, a Stockholm startup, raises $3.2M seed to launch an “AI-native” inbox aimed at cutting professionals’ administrative cognitive load by automating reply drafting, attachment handling and message prioritization.
Scape: an AI-native inbox to reduce cognitive load
Founded in 2024 by Melvin Hagberg and later joined by co‑founder Elis Hodzic, Scape is pitching an inbox that integrates artificial intelligence at its core. The company says the tool generates reply drafts, organizes attachments and classifies and prioritizes emails using user‑defined labels. The goal is to help founders and other professionals focus on higher‑value work by automating routine email tasks.
A $3.2M seed round
Announced July 24, 2026, the seed round raised $3.2 million. Backers include Y Combinator, General Catalyst and FundersClub, alongside individual investors such as Max Junestrand, Sebastian Knutsson, Jacob Wallenberg Jr. and Sophia Bendz. The round also features operators from organizations including OpenAI, Google, Meta and Ramp.
Use of funds and product positioning
Scape says the capital will be used to expand engineering and product teams and to build out its writing infrastructure and messaging workflows. Positioned in the SaaS and AI productivity categories, the startup emphasizes embedding automation directly into the inbox experience rather than delivering it as an external overlay.
