Apple is planning a major wave of hardware refreshes across 2026 and 2027, with staggered launches that mix new chips, OLED displays and memory supply constraints. What the Mac roadmap for 2026–2027 predicts
Looking toward 2026–2027, Apple is preparing multiple refreshes: Macs powered by M6 and M7 chips, a gradual rollout of OLED displays across its notebooks, and updates for performance-focused machines (Mac Studio, Mac mini). Tension in the memory market has already forced price adjustments and the removal of some RAM options, which could push back certain launches.
Fall 2026: initial updates
The first deliveries expected in fall 2026 include an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring an M6 chip — touted as one of the first to use a 2nm process. The 24-inch iMac is also expected to receive a hardware refresh and will likely adopt the same M6 chip, with no design or display changes compared with the 2024 model.
Late 2026–early 2027: OLED and high-end variants
A MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen (or a “MacBook Ultra” variant) could arrive in late 2026 or slip into early 2027. High-end 14- and 16-inch models in this initial OLED generation are expected to retain M5 Pro and M5 Max chips — Apple does not currently plan M6 Pro or M6 Max variants. These OLED models will receive an updated design.
At the same time, a revision of the Mac Studio is in development with M5 Max and M5 Ultra configurations, but its launch depends on RAM availability and Apple’s final chip choices.
