Samsung is preparing a new Galaxy SmartTag 3 with an all-new look: leaked elements suggest the tracker adopts a “squircle” shape and departs from the lines of previous generations.
A squircle design with no eyelet
Renders show a case that’s both square and rounded — the familiar “squircle” shape — echoing the One UI iconography and the brand’s latest smartwatches. Unlike the original Galaxy SmartTag (rounded-square) and the SmartTag 2 (pill-shaped), the Galaxy SmartTag 3 appears to lack any built-in eyelet or hole for a strap. In practice, users will likely need a case or third‑party accessory to attach it to a keyring or other items.
Visible central button and possible uses
The new tracker retains a visible central button similar to the original model. Pressing that button could make a connected Galaxy phone ring; a double press might trigger an automation via Modes & Routines. These behaviors are discussed as possibilities and have not been definitively confirmed.
Expected connectivity and protections
On the technical side, the Galaxy SmartTag 3 is expected to keep the fundamentals: Bluetooth and UWB for positioning, plus integration with Samsung’s device-finding service. An IP67 or IP68 rating for dust and water resistance is also anticipated. Among potential upgrades, the tracker could adopt Bluetooth 6.0, which would improve tracking accuracy if true. Battery life, however, remains unclear.
Moving to a design that better matches Samsung’s software and hardware ecosystem signals a push to unify the brand’s accessory identity. The real question is whether the aesthetic choices — particularly the lack of a built-in attachment ring — will be accepted by users or push them toward buying additional accessories.
