Samsung has announced that its new foldable phones set an all-time preorder record in South Korea: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra together received more than 1.44 million preorders, surpassing the Galaxy Note 10 series’ 1.38 million.
Preorders opened on July 22 and the preorder period ended on August 3.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 accounted for over 70% of preorders
According to a report, more than 70% of the preorders were for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra accounted for the remaining 30%.
Samsung said the preorder figures reportedly exceeded its expectations. That result is notable given that all three phones are more expensive than their predecessors due to the ongoing memory chip shortage, and Samsung reduced preorder benefits, such as free storage upgrades, in most countries.
