Galaxy Z Fold 8 drives 20% rise in Samsung foldable sales in Europe

Samsung says combined sales of its three new foldables — the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra — are 20% higher in Europe than sales of last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. Preorders for the new models have already surpassed the company’s expectations despite higher prices.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 popularity and preorder mix

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the most popular of the three, accounting for 40% of all preorders in Europe. The remaining preorders are for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Pricing and price rises

In Europe, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is priced at €1,299 for the 256GB version, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with 256GB of storage costs €2,000. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at €2,199 in most European countries. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are each €100 more expensive than their respective predecessors. Samsung attributes the price increases to soaring memory chip prices, which have put additional pressure on smartphone brands.
