Galaxy Z8 Series Sets New Pre-Order Record with 1.44M in South Korea

Samsung’s Galaxy Z8 series recorded 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea over a six-day pre-order period, the highest pre-order total of any Galaxy lineup in the company’s history.

That figure surpasses the 1.38 million pre-orders posted by the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ in 2019, a record that was achieved over 11 days, meaning the new foldables exceeded it in almost half the time.

Galaxy Z8 pre-orders and records

The Galaxy Z8 family — comprising the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 — also overtook the Galaxy S26 lineup’s seven-day pre-order total of 1.35 million, marking the first time Samsung’s foldable flagship range has outperformed a Galaxy S launch. The result follows a patchy period for Samsung’s foldable business: the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 reached a then-record 1.02 million pre-orders, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 slipped to 910,000 reservations, and the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 attracted 1.04 million pre-orders.

Demand trends and model breakdown

Samsung is reported to have benefited from strong interest in the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold8, which introduces a wider folding display than previous generations. The Fold8 reportedly accounted for around 70 per cent of all Galaxy Z8 series pre-orders in South Korea. The Fold8 was particularly popular among younger buyers and female customers: consumers in their 30s and below, together with women, represented around half of all Fold8 purchasers.

International sales and local disclosure

Strong momentum was also reported outside South Korea. In India, Samsung said the Galaxy Z8 family generated 271,000 pre-orders in just three days; by comparison, the previous Galaxy Z foldable generation required 15 days to reach the same sales milestone. Australian management refused to reveal local numbers despite South Korean Samsung management putting out press releases on their pre order sales.

With record-breaking demand across multiple markets, the Galaxy Z8 lineup has delivered Samsung’s strongest foldable launch to date.
