Apple’s glass-centric iPhone redesign remains on track for 2027, Mark Gurman says, aiming to refute a report from Jefferies analyst Edison Lee that claimed the all-glass iPhone planned for the device’s 20th anniversary had been canceled.

Gurman reports the 20th‑anniversary iPhone will make heavy use of glass, with both front and rear panels wrapping around the edges to sandwich a thin metal band. The company expects iPhone Pro models in 2027 to adopt this new glassy look, according to people who asked not to be identified because the work is confidential.
Internally, the devices are known as V73 and V74. Glass is used on the front and back and is said to curve into the sides of the phones, with a metal band running through the middle.
Gurman also mentions a ‘more aspirational version’ that ‘used even more glass,’ but says that design ‘was scrapped early on.’ It is possible Edison Lee’s report referred to that more ambitious variant, but Gurman indicates it was discarded some time ago rather than being a recent development as Lee suggested.
Lee’s report additionally suggested the all-glass approach would be extended to an all-new model, saying Jefferies analysts believed Apple planned to ‘extend the all-glass features to future iPhone Pro and Pro Max models.’ There has been no recent reporting of such a separate model; most recent rumors point to the glass-heavy design being applied to next year’s Pro and Pro Max lineup.
