Legio Raises $5M Seed to Modernize Campus Public Safety

Legio, a Toronto-based AI-native safety and security operations platform for higher education, announced a $5 million seed funding round led by Klass Capital on August 11, 2026 to modernize campus public safety and security operations software.

The seed investment will support Legio’s efforts to update how college and university public safety departments handle incident response and regulatory reporting. Klass Capital, a growth equity firm that invests in B2B technology companies, led the round.

Legio’s use of funds and product focus

Legio said the new capital will be used to accelerate product development, hire engineers, and expand its design partner program across higher education institutions. The company offers an enterprise-grade platform that unifies dispatch, incident response, case work, patrols, and asset management into a single system of record, enabling compliance reporting to be generated automatically from operational data.

Founded in 2026 by Darren Hill, Mike Wertman, and Joe Crampton, Legio positions itself as a Vertical SaaS provider for campuses seeking to modernize safety and security workflows. Funding details list the round as a $5M seed raised on August 11, 2026. Company website: https://getlegio.com
