Lunara Ortho-K Lens Gets FDA OK for Overnight Wear

Lunara, an overnight orthokeratology (ortho-K) lens from X-Cel Specialty Contacts and Essilor Custom Contacts, has received FDA premarket approval for overnight wear. The lens offers flexible optic zone and diameter options intended to help clinicians address individual patient needs.

Lunara design and materials

Lunara is made from tisilfocon A, a 180 Dk material that provides high oxygen permeability. The lens is built around familiar tangential, reverse-geometry fitting principles, which X-Cel and Essilor say may make it easier to adopt for practitioners already experienced with ortho-K or other tangential-design systems.

Fitting support and availability

The product rollout will be supported by fitting and certification resources, educational materials and access to specialty contact lens consultants by phone Monday through Friday, X-Cel and Essilor note in their press release. The companies also say orders will have a fast turnaround time. For more information, go to xcelspecialtycontacts.com/lunara-ortho-k.
