Apple announced that iOS 27 will officially launch on September 14, revealing the date during its ‘Surprise and Shine’ event on September 9. Apple released developer and public betas earlier this summer and published a release candidate for testing immediately following the September 9 event.
iOS 27: What’s new
The iOS 27 update introduces an AI-powered Siri, now called Siri AI, plus a redesigned Screen Time app, additional Liquid Glass slider customization options, Apple Handoff, lock screen adjustments, “Write with Siri,” an Insights feature in Apple Wallet, updates to iPhone-to-Android RCS chats, and deeper Apple Intelligence integration. You can test these features in the latest public and developer betas now.

Some of the newer Siri AI features will only be available on newer iPhones with Apple Intelligence. This includes the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and up.
How to install the iOS 27 public beta
To test the public beta (the current release candidate):
1. Visit beta.apple.com
2. Sign in using the Apple Account you use on your iPhone and enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program
3. On your iPhone, open Settings > General > Software Update
4. Tap Beta Updates, then select iOS 27 Public Beta
To test the public beta on an iPad, follow the same steps but choose iPadOS 27 Public Beta.
How to install the new iOS 27 developer beta
To join the developer beta:
1. Register as an Apple developer
2. Restart your iPhone
3. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates
You should see the iOS 27 developer beta available there.
