A20 Pro Benchmarks Reveal Big Performance Gains in iPhone 18 Pro

Early Geekbench results for the A20 Pro chip in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max appeared in the Geekbench 7 database early this morning, showing roughly 21%–23% faster single‑core and 27%–28% faster multi‑core performance compared with the A19 Pro chip in the iPhone 17 Pro.

A20 Pro: CPU, GPU and benchmark numbers

The iPhone 18 Pro entry lists a single‑core score of 4,719 and a multi‑core score of 12,677, while an iPhone 18 Pro Max entry posts a single‑core 4,725 and multi‑core 12,575. Both entries identify a six‑core CPU running at approximately 4.93 GHz.

On the graphics side, early Metal results in the Geekbench 6 database (also unconfirmed) indicate the full 7‑core GPU variant in the A20 Pro is about 38%–40% faster than the A19 Pro’s 6‑core GPU.

Those early benchmark gains broadly align with Apple’s claims in its iPhone 18 Pro press release and product page that the A20 Pro delivers up to 20% faster CPU performance and that the new seven‑core GPU is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro.

Apple says the A20 Pro is built on a 2‑nanometer process, features a six‑core CPU with integrated Neural Accelerators and offers 50% more memory bandwidth than its predecessor. The company also attributes up to 40% better sustained performance to new chip packaging and a redesigned vapor chamber compared with the previous generation.

These results are one‑off and unconfirmed; they do not indicate how the devices will perform during prolonged gaming or other sustained, demanding workloads. Benchmark scores and real‑world performance are not always directly comparable.
