Samsung’s HBM market share is projected to climb to around 40% by the end of 2026, narrowing the gap with long-time leader SK Hynix, according to KB Securities.
KB Securities estimates that Samsung Electronics’ global HBM market share, which stood at 33% in the second quarter of this year, will reach nearly 40% in the fourth quarter. The firm notes Samsung’s share jumped by 12% compared to the first quarter to reach 33% in Q2 and is now projected to rise by a further 7% to approach 40% by year-end.
HBM market share drivers
The surge is being driven in large part by HBM4 chips: Samsung expects HBM4 sales to account for more than 60% of all high-bandwidth memory sales in the second half of 2026. The company’s rise in shipments is also partly attributed to more stable yields in the production process, meaning a larger proportion of chips from each wafer can be sold and helping to improve cost competitiveness.
SK Hynix continues to enjoy a dominant lead in the lucrative high-bandwidth memory segment, but the latest projections indicate Samsung is closing the gap rapidly.
