Apple is testing 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with touch-enabled OLED displays running macOS 27.1, which is scheduled for release in late October, according to Mark Gurman. The machines are said to be high-end MacBook Pro variants under active evaluation.

Gurman previously indicated these high-end MacBook Pro models might arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. In his latest update, however, he lists them among products coming ‘later this year,’ which suggests he is now more confident Apple plans to ship them before the end of 2026. The first developer beta of macOS 27.1 is also expected to be released in the coming days.
Specs and positioning
Reported additional features for the OLED MacBook Pro models include M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a thinner design, and a Dynamic Island replacing a notch. A previous report said these laptops would carry MacBook Ultra branding, but that same report also mistakenly claimed the iPhone Duo would be named the iPhone Ultra. The first-generation MacBook Pro models with OLED displays are expected to be distinct, higher-priced models positioned above the regular 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro lines, which are expected to move to M7 Pro and M7 Max chips next year.
