Apple released tvOS 27 today after several months of beta testing. The update is available for free on the Apple TV 4K.
The software can be downloaded on the Apple TV using the Settings app: open Settings and go to System > Software Update. Apple TV owners who have automatic software updates enabled will be upgraded to tvOS 27 automatically.
tvOS 27: What’s new
tvOS 27 features a redesigned Podcasts app, options for larger text and customizable subtitles, and a more responsive Control Center. AirPlaying to an Apple TV from another Apple device is faster, apps open quicker, and animations are smoother.
Compatibility
tvOS 27 works on the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV 4K models and drops support for the Apple TV HD and the first-generation Apple TV 4K.
