Apple TV app profiles arrive on iPhone and iPad with iOS 27.2

With iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, Apple has added Apple TV app profiles to the iPhone and iPad versions of the Apple TV app, bringing the feature beyond the Apple TV device.

Apple initially introduced profiles on the Apple TV with tvOS 26.2; until now the capability remained limited to that platform.

Apple TV app profiles: how they work

Users can create new profiles in the account settings section of the Apple TV app and switch between profiles as needed. Each profile requires only a name, a profile rating, and an indication of whether the user is a child.

Creating a child profile restricts available content to a PG rating by default and offers a customize option for more granular control. Those customization options let users select age ratings for TV shows and movies that are appropriate for the child based on their age.

Profiles are particularly useful for parents who hand an iPhone or iPad to a child, since they limit what the child can access without changing what the parent sees when signed into their own account.
