Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max introduce the ability to record time‑lapse videos in 4K resolution, a step up from the phone maker’s previous Camera app output for time‑lapse.
Until now, time‑lapse videos shot with Apple’s native Camera app were limited to 1080p. The new 4K option on iPhone 18 Pro models supports Dolby Vision HDR, allowing time‑lapses to be recorded at the same resolution and HDR format used for high‑quality video on these devices.
iPhone 18 Pro time‑lapse controls
On iPhone 18 Pro, Apple has added an “Adaptive” time‑lapse mode that slows the time‑lapse when the camera detects motion. To enable it in Time‑Lapse mode, tap the button with six circles inside located in the bottom right corner of the Camera interface, then select “Adaptive.”
When you select Time‑Lapse mode from the Camera app’s carousel at the bottom of the screen, you can switch between HD and 4K resolution by tapping the current resolution displayed above the viewfinder.
