Galaxy SmartTag 3: lighter, smaller tracker adds iOS support

Samsung has launched the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a smaller and lighter iteration of its smart tracker that, for the first time in the lineup, supports iOS devices and therefore brings cross‑OS compatibility.

The SmartTag 3’s reduced size and weight come alongside improvements to range and update speed via the Galaxy Find Network, and Samsung says proactive alerts have been expanded. iOS support grants access to core finding and sharing features on iPhones and iPads, allowing families and groups using different devices to use the tag. The SmartThings Find network enables users to check and share a tag’s location.

Galaxy SmartTag 3 connectivity and range

With Search Nearby, users can pinpoint tracked items more easily. Samsung highlights industry‑leading battery life: up to 550 days under standard usage and up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode. Compass View range has been expanded to help narrow in on an item from farther away.

The tracker uses Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding and Ultra Wide Band (UWB) to provide distance and directional guidance from up to 60 meters—a range Samsung says is 4x farther than the outgoing generation.

A new Place Notification feature will alert users if a tagged item, such as a vehicle or pet, moves in or out of a defined area. Samsung will offer official accessories to attach the SmartTag 3 to keys or a pet, and third‑party cases will be available for use on a bicycle.
