A recent report, citing an X rumor and alleged internal tests, claims the Galaxy S27 Ultra could reach 100% charge about 2–3% faster than the Galaxy S26 Ultra, even though maximum charging speed is said to remain at 60W.
The S26 Ultra was the first Ultra model in years to receive a notable battery upgrade, and regulatory documents previously spotted indicate the S27 Ultra may ship with a larger 5,700mAh battery. Despite that bigger capacity, the alleged internal results point to a modest improvement in real-world time to full charge compared with the S26 Ultra’s smaller battery.
Why a larger battery might still charge faster
The report attributes the faster time to full charge to superior optimization rather than higher peak charging power. It does not detail the specific software or hardware changes behind those optimizations. The information is presented as results from internal testing and has not been confirmed by the manufacturer.
It is currently unknown whether Samsung could apply the same battery optimization techniques to older models such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra via firmware updates, or whether those optimizations would be available across the wider Galaxy S27 series (base, Plus and Pro models).
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S27 lineup in January or February next year. Leaks are likely to continue until then, but the company has not officially confirmed these claims.
