Apple and ADT: Rumors of a New Partnership Ahead of Home Hub

Apple may announce a new partnership with home security company ADT alongside the introduction of its all‑new smart home hub, according to several clues. The suggestion rests on recent ADT hiring practices, device provisioning, and timing tied to Apple’s expected announcement on Tuesday, October 13.

ADT has been posting “Low Voltage Technician” job listings in various U.S. cities since around July, and multiple new hires report receiving few details about their responsibilities. Some of those hires say they have mainly been shadowing other ADT technicians while awaiting further information, and several employees and managers said they signed non‑disclosure agreements related to the role — a level of secrecy the reports note is typical for projects involving Apple.

ADT has also provided these new technicians with an iPhone 17 Pro for work, whereas it typically issues Android devices to other technicians. Several hires said ADT plans to share more information about the position later this month, which could align with Apple’s expected home hub announcement on October 13. One new hire said ADT originally planned to disclose details in September but delayed until October.

Apple, the home hub and reported features

Reports say Apple’s revamped home hub — which the company is expected to unveil on Tuesday, October 13 — includes Siri AI and a range of smart home capabilities. The hub is said to offer smart accessory management, home security monitoring, photo faces and galleries, calendar appointment overviews, music playback, FaceTime video calling and more. It is reportedly planned in two forms: a tabletop model with a speaker base and a wall‑mounted version. The delayed announcement timeline has been linked in reports to Siri AI readiness; the revamped version of Siri launched last month.

ADT’s role and past partnerships

Some new ADT hires who asked managers about the secretive role were told it would relate to home automation and in‑home installation services. That has prompted speculation that ADT might provide professional installation for a wall‑mounted home hub or for related third‑party accessories reportedly developed with brands such as LG. It is unclear whether any partnership between Apple and ADT would extend to home security monitoring.

ADT previously reached a home security partnership with Google in 2023 but reportedly dropped some features it had offered on Google Nest devices earlier this year. A person familiar with the matter said ADT’s exclusivity agreement with Google recently expired and is not set to be renewed, with Google now turning to AT&T — a development that could, according to the reports, pave the way for an ADT partnership with another tech company such as Apple.

Apple is expected to unveil its smart home hub on Tuesday, October 13, and details about a potential partnership with ADT might be announced then if one exists. For now, a tie‑up between Apple and ADT remains a rumor and the various clues could prove coincidental.
