Apple said in a press release that the App Store will label apps that are “Made for iPhone Duo.” The designation applies to apps that have been optimized specifically for the iPhone Duo display.
iPhone Duo optimization tiers
To qualify as optimized for the iPhone Duo, a developer must build the app with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later; apps meeting that requirement fill the entire inner display and show the app toolbar vertically below the status bar. Apps built with the iOS 27 SDK fill most of the inner display but still avoid the status bar on the right edge. Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run on the iPhone Duo, but appear centered on the inner display with large empty margins on each side.
Availability and updates
Many more apps are being optimized for the iPhone Duo each day, and Apple advises users to keep an eye on the App Store’s updates menu. The iPhone Duo launches this Friday.
