Tesla has updated its app with native iPad and iPhone Duo support, adapting vehicle and home energy controls to take advantage of larger displays.
Previously, iPad users could only install the iPhone app, which lacked a native layout for the tablet’s larger screen. The new interface adopts a two-column design: navigation and controls sit on the left, while a larger visualization of the vehicle or home appears on the right.

The vehicle view gives access to climate, charging and security features alongside a large rendering of the car and shortcuts for vehicle controls. The home energy view shows power flowing between solar panels, a Powerwall, the home and the grid.
Tesla designer Alex Guichet announced the update on October 21, 2026, sharing screenshots and confirming that the release also supports Android tablets and foldable devices. The update arrived ahead of the iPhone Duo’s launch on Friday, October 23, 2026.
Tesla’s design team reworked multiple views to better use the extra space and said further refinements are planned for future releases.
The update follows Apple opening App Store submissions for iPhone Duo apps earlier this month. Existing iPhone apps can run on the Duo, but apps must be built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later to dynamically resize to fill the inner display; unoptimized apps appear with black borders.
Version 4.62.0 of the Tesla app is now available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
